Colmar was founded in Monza in 1923 by Mario Colombo. In the first decades, the company produced hats and gaiters in wool felt, and then devoted itself to the production of workwear. In the immediate post-war period, with the recovery and development of sport, the company began to specialize in sportswear, with particular attention to skiwear.
During the 1952 Olympics, the company was commissioned to dress the Italian ski team and, together with Zeno Colò, created the first aerodynamic windbreaker.
