MUUN

In 2004, Audrey, then a Japanese language interpreter and fashion consultant for Japanese companies connected to Europe, decided to go on a trip. Headed to West Africa to discover the craftsmanship and artisans of Senegal and Burkina-Faso, the idea to create Muuñ has its roots in the heart of the small town of Nyariga, in northern Ghana.
The DNA of the brand emerges,
MUUÑ – one
fashionable reinterpretation
of the traditional basket.
An unexpected meeting of two worlds occurs when Audrey comes across a traditional round Ghanaian basket and meets the man behind it, Tahiru, a passionate craftsman. Expert in the traditional art of straw weaving, he explains his work to her and confides in her the hope of one day seeing his baskets on the European market at a fair and equitable price. The idea takes shape and Muuñ's first collection of straw baskets is shown. From that moment on, the bags gained popularity thanks to their natural appearance, their quality and their style.
